Ordinary People....Extraordinary God 2014

Exodus 3:1-6...Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came.........to Horeb. The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush, and he looked, and the bush burned with fire, but the bush was not consumed. So Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see the great sight, why the bush is not burnt.” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him from out of the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses.”

And he said, “Here am I.”

He said, “Do not approach here. Remove your sandals from off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And, Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God

(Modern English Version).

When Moses began his day, I doubt if he said, “Oh, I think I will go out by the Mountain of God today. To the shepherds, the surrounding mountains were pretty much usual. They were just mountains. There was nothing special about them. It was just another ordinary, mundane day.

It was when Moses turned to see that burning bush that one mountain became extraordinary. Mount Horeb was turned into Mount Sinai...the mountain of God because the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob appeared there. It was there that a man named Moses, a humble man, just an ordinary man, a simple shepherd was transformed into a powerful servant of the Lord. God had just transformed this common, ordinary man into an extraordinary man of purpose just by His appearing and speaking to him on that special day.

In today's world, we get up, get dressed, and head off for another mundane day of school or work. Many have mentioned that they just get up, go to work, grab something to eat, come home and sleep. Life is boring, usual, non-specific. Many of us, whether we want to admit it openly or not, don't think much of ourselves for one reason or another. We have come to believe, “Oh, God would never use me!” “I am not perfect.” “I'm just ordinary.”... perfectly normal and nobody special.

As in the life of Moses, the Lord calls those who are living the normal life...to those who are just willing to turn and look and see the Lord's outstanding fire through the Holy Spirit...to those who want to see their own burning bushes that are possible through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Many have made the decision to not believe the power of God is even truly available to us today even though scriptures clearly state that it is. Such scriptures as...'Greater works shall you do because I go to the Father' are left on the back burner and forgotten due to the religion and belief or lack of through man.

When Moses turned to see that burning bush that was not being consumed, it was then the Lord God revealed Himself to Moses. The problem with most of us, even those within the church, is that we just don't take time to investigate, to believe that the Lord could ever use us in a miraculous way. Or., we lack the desire to grow spiritually. But, many believe that the supernatural doesn't happen anymore. Or, He may do this; but, He doesn't do that. That was another dispensation. Ever heard that before?...when all it takes is a little matter of 'faith'.

We, in our normal lives, all think that we should take time to read the Bible more and study the scriptures, or possibly that we need to pray more. But, too many just never decide to actually do it, to take time, to turn like Moses and investigate, to go deeper and see what the Lord has for us. We will only grow old with good intentions.

You may never know, as you turn aside to look and investigate deeper into God's Word, your ordinary life can be transformed into the extraordinary spiritual life of Christ who dwells in you mightily as we are willing to rise up and simply believe what Jesus said through the scriptures.

Let us hear these words of scripture one more time...

'Truly, truly I say to 'You', he who believes in Me will do the works that I do also. And he will do greater works than these, because I am going to My Father.'...John 14:12.

Stop procrastinating...Get into the Word...You just may meet God there. The Lord is calling, 'You'!

We are all ordinary people but the Lord God is an extraordinary God who wishes to dwell within ordinary people like you mightily and show forth His Mighty Glory through 'You', His Church/Bride.

He calls. He fills. He anoints. He could do all things all by Himself. But, He chose us just like He chose Moses. Rise up, Church! Awaken to your calling and Godly purpose! All it takes is to just 'Believe'!

Sid Roth of the program 'It's Supernatural' says often, “Welcome to my world, where everything is naturally supernatural!” As we turn and seek the Lord with all of our hearts, we may too hide our face because we have met the living God. We, too, can be transformed from the ordinary into the extraordinary because we have met the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob...through Jesus Christ, Our Lord! Amen.
