Walking With God - Part 3
To Know God in Spirit

Many people with all good intentions endeavor to get to know God by their
minds. We struggle to understand Yahweh by sheer mind power. We struggle to
study to understand God. At best, we end up learning only about Him. It is all
together possible to spend our whole life studying, reading, or discussing the
historical Jesus or ethical or doctrinal God and yet never come to know Him in
spirit and truth inside our heart and life.

A good example is Nicodemus in John 3: l-12. He knew all about God, and, yet,
he had never come alive in his spirit to the Spirit of God. The Lord God had never
been allowed to quicken his spirit, to become alive in him. There had been no
interaction or positive response between the alive God and our dead, dormant
spirit. We only grew to learn about Him but never had experienced Him. In John
3: 6-7, Jesus declared...'Oh Nicodemus, that which is born of the flesh (soul and
body) is flesh. That which is born (generate, activated, and infiltrated), brought
forth, and brought to life is by God's Spirit. You simply must be born anew, in a
new way from above, from heaven.'
As with Nicodemus, as with many of us today, that concept has been very
foreign to us. Many people today still bandy about phrases like 'knowing God',
being born again, walking in the Spirit, without comprehending the full meaning of
that term.

Obviously, we must become alive to God before we can walk with God. We
must know His life before we can move and have our being in that life, in Him. We
must be able to experience His energy before we can expend His energy. We
have to get something from God in order to manifest it in our lives. We must
'receive' His life before we can 'live His life'.
So, to 'know' God, to truly walk with Him in Spirit and Truth, He will surround us
on every side with His Presence, Person, and Power. In Acts l7: 27-28, Paul says,
'It is in Him that we move and live and have our very being'. So, it is with those
born from on high.

He is here with us. And as we open our hearts, He literally comes to indwell us
and change our very lives. As we allow His Spirit to come, He shares our life with
us. In Isaiah 30:2l (ESV), it says, 'And your ears shall hear a word behind you,
saying, 'This is the way, walk ye in it', when you turn to the right or when you turn
to the left. And, so it is, when you hear the Presence of the Spirit speak. It is as
we give Him time and opportunity that we become 'alive' to Him. We now have a
life that is 'higher and deeper' - even higher than our body life. We are literally
given the 'Life of Christ', Himself, who has come to dwell with us. We are actually
given the life blood of God in us...the life from above. This is to know God. This is
to be born anew in Spirit. This is truly how we can 'walk with God'. Amen.

Seek and you will find...Knock and the door will be opened unto you! God isn't a job. God is a joy!
