Walking With God - Part 5
Fear and Rejection of the Holy Spirit Five Reasons Why Many Believers Reject the Holy Spirit 1) They have been intellectually convinced by some theological argument that they were baptized in the Holy Spirit at conversion. Yet, they haven't received the power that Christ said would come upon them and that He declared He would send after His ascension. And, even though they are defeated, powerless, empty and fruitless, they continue to believe this theological deception. For Jesus said in no uncertain terms to Nicodemus... 'Ye must be born again from above to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.' 2) They feel that they are not worthy enough to receive this baptism from on high. The fact of the matter is that the more unworthy you feel and the greater the sinner you consider yourself to be, the more fit you are to receive the Holy Spirit from God. Because God's gifts are given only to those who feel most unworthy to receive them. If you have repented of your sinful life, it doesn't matter how unworthy or unfit or useless you feel you are. Just ask Him and you will receive! 3) Many believers like to declare their faith in what they believe. Jesus likened faith to drinking. Even babes know how to drink. And, so, those who are baptized need faith. In John 7:37,38, it declares to DRINK and BELIEVE. To receive the Holy Spirit is so easy as drinking. Even babies know how to drink, and those who are newly converted can be baptized with the Holy Spirit. That is how it was in the early days of the Acts of the Apostles. 4) They Don't Thirst - (For More) - They are not desperate enough. Jesus spoke a parable of a man who kept on knocking at his neighbor's door. UNTIL HE RECEIVED what he wanted. Then, Jesus went on to say that our Heavenly Father would also give the Holy Spirit to those who asked, sought, and knocked like that man - (Luke ll: 5-13). 5) They wait to see others experiences like someone else might have had. They wait because they want that same gift. They are not willing to leave that decision up to God to decide what gifting will be the best for them. If simply you ask for the Holy Spirit to come and open your heart's door to Him, His Presence will most assuredly come in.
Seek and you will find...Knock and the door will be opened unto you! God isn't a job. God is a joy!
May the Lord bless you as you step up and seek more of Him today!
